Night Flower Paradise in Kyoto Botanical Garden

Kyoto Botanical Garden opened two new facilities at the same time on August 3rd in 2013; Night Flower Garden & Alpine Garden.

The Night Flower Garden has been attracting more attention because this is the first facility of this kind in Japan. Literally you can see plants that only open their flowers during the night during the DAYTIME.

For example, here you can see baobab, oenothera tetraptera, barringtonia racemosa, snake gourd, moon flower, dragon fruits and more.

If you want to see something other than temples and shrines, the botanical garden can be good idea for a change.

Fee: 200 yen for the main garden. Note that you need to pay another 200 yen to get into the “night” garden.
Open hours: 9:00 – 17:00 (16:00 Last Entry)
From August 2nd to 6th 7:00 – 17:00 (16:00 Last Entry)
From August 19th – 31st 9:00 – 19:00 (18:30 Last Entry)
Access: You can find the botanical garden in front of Kitayama station (Subway Karasuma), exit 3 or 4.
