Sometimes it is nice to go somewhere you know very well and are familiar with, especially when traveling to a country with a different culture and language. Starbucks is one of these places for most people, since it has spread all over the world. And fortunately there are many Starbucks Coffee stores in Kyoto City too. People in Japan love Starbucks in general. So avoid visiting Starbucks on weekends. And in rare cases, they have some Japanese special coffee such as a Sakura flavored drinks and cakes. And as explained before, a local Kyoto mug can be a nice souvenir.
Basically all the Starbuck stores share the same atmosphere and price. But there is one Starbucks store which has an unique feature. Inside the store at the intersection of Rokkaku & Karasuma streets, customers can see a temple called Rokkakudo. This temple is said to be the origin of Japanese traditional flower arrangement culture. Also, the store on the Kamogawa riverside has a spectacular view.
Here’s a map of the Starbucks in Kyoto City.
Blue: Subway Karasuma
Pink: Subway Tozai
Yellow: Hankyu Line
Orange: Keihan Line
Now there are three Starbucks near Kyoto Station; one on the 1st floor of Kyoto Tower and other two in the underground area of Kyoto Station called Porta.
