Imperial Place is open to the public from now until November 4th.
It is usually required to make a reservation through their website, to get inside the palace. However it opens to public without reservation twice a year in spring and fall.
Since the Imperial family is a symbol of Japan, and many people respect their presence, it is difficult to reserve the spots. So, for people lucky enough to stay in Kyoto this weekend, go and visit the palace, since it is a big and rare opportunity to see inside the palace.
Nevertheless, if you prefer a guided tour, try the online reservation system, or call the office. It is quite complicated, so please read the Application Guideline carefully on this page.
During this special period, Imperial Palace is open from 9:00 – 15:30, and it’s free.
