Kyoto has a plenty of flea markets all year around. They have everything from cheap junk, to second-hand Kimono (traditional cloths) to one of a kind hand-crafted works. For those who are looking for things that are not available at normal gift shops, flea markets can be good place to hunt for treasure. Since Kyoto tends to have less events in winter, visiting a flea market can be a worthwhile activity.
Also, flea markets in Kyoto are mostly hosted at temples and shrines with hundreds years of history. Therefore it might be a good idea to combine browsing the flea market and visiting the shrine at the same time.
If that idea sounds good, check the following information and plan. These are easily accessible by trains and buses. In addition, checking my Kyoto e-Guidebook for information on the venues will make the experience even more meaningful.
