For those who will visit Kyoto during winter, prepare for snow.
Kyoto is not the coldest place in the world, but for people coming from areas where it does not snow, it might be shivering cold.
It does not always snow, and It is not necessary to wear snow boots. However, it is wise to wear shoes which can save you from slipping. It will be more dangerous at temples and shrines with many stairs. Therefore, prioritize safety over design.
There were 10 days and 14 days with snow in January and February respectively last year. As for temperature, it was 3 to 8 degrees Celsius during the day and -1 to 3 at night and early in the morning today.
