Buddha Manga Illustration Display at Toji Temple

There will be an interesting event with illustrations of Buddha created by 50 Japanese manga artists this spring. And Toji temple, which is designated as a World Heritage Site, was chosen as the first venue.

The artists who provided the work include: Fujio Akatsuka, Yumiko Igarashi, Naoki Urasawa, Tetsuya Chiba, Tezuka Pro, Reiji Matsumoto, Hiroshi Motomiya and more.

Kyoto was chosen to be the venue to kick off this event due to the fact that the first manga illustration called Animal-Person Caricature was found in Kyoto (more specifically, Kosanji temple, which is also designated as a World Heritage Site).
