Pictures and Video from Kyoto Vega Festival 2014

Yesterday (August 2nd) saw the Kyoto Vega Festival kicking off with many people flocking to Horikawa River (Horikawa Street) and Nijo Castle where a projection mapping was held in spite of bad weather.

For more information on the Kyoto Vega Festival, visit official website or read Vega Festival Illumination in Kyoto for an overview.

There are two locations for this event, Horikawa and Kamogawa. The Horikawa venue is bigger mostly thanks to Nijo Castle’s projection mapping. They are both magnificent and definitely worth checking out for those who will be in Kyoto before August 11th.

Here are a video and pictures from the Horikawa venue.

And finally, the projection mapping from the Ninomaru Palace at the Nijo Castle. For people who are actually planning to go see this, do not play the video below. It is FREE (from 19:30 – 21:00), and there is no reason not to watch this beautiful collaboration of old and new. The picture below is the one you can see at day time.
