Although there aren’t many, Kyoto does have some vegetarian, macrobiotic and vegan restaurants.

Mumokuteki Cafe
For those who are keen to eat vegetarian food and Japanese food at the same time, look no further than Mumokuteki Cafe. They are serving food that has also been served to our (Japanese) grandparents. Natural, healthy and delicious. Tofu Hamburg Plate is very popular here, but there are many more delicious and interesting looking foods, for example, Soy Milk Raamen Noodle, Tofu & Mushrooms Pasta and Pumpkin Soup.

OPEN HOURS: 11:30 – 22:00 (Last Order 21:00)
CLOSED ON: Irregular

Sunshine Cafe

It might be hard to find this cafe/restaurant since it is located on the fifth floor of the building. They have a wide range of food including some vegetarian options featuring organic ingredients. They also have about 10 different types of herb tea. Their menu has English descriptions. It is nice to be able to choose the size of the food from M or L.

Mon, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat and Sun 12:30 – 22:00
Tue 12:00 – 15:00
CLOSED ON: Irregular

Organic House Salute

The great thing about this restaurant is that most of the menu have a big salad dish. Veggie Curry, Veggie Lunch and Veggie Quiche are served. The Veggie Lunch changes every day. Also, sweets such as pink grapefruit mousse and tofu tiramisu are worth trying. For people staying at a hotel near Kyoto Station, this is the most convenient place to visit.
