As explained in “Watch Soccer Match in Kyoto – Kyoto Sanga FC“, Kyoto has a professional football (soccer) team, called Kyoto Sanga FC. Currently they belong to J League Division 2 and are doing their best to be promoted to Division 1.
For those who are familiar with the Asian soccer scene, Kyoto Sanga has several famous players such as striker Masashi Oguro (former Japan national team member), creative MF Koji Yamase (former Japan national team member) and KIM Nam Il (former South Korea national team member).

How to Buy Tickets
Information on their official site is only in Japanese. So if it is possible, ask your hotel staff in advance, since there is a discount. If they can not do it, then go to the stadium and buy the tickets there. It is highly likely that tickets will be available on the game day. The price is different depending on the seat, from 800 yen – 6000 yen.
How to get to Nishikyogoku
Take Hankyu Line Local (Not Express) either from Omiya Station, Karasuma Station or Kawaramachi Station and get off at Nishikyogoku. Or take City Bus Line 73 (230 yen) from Kyoto Station and get off at Nishikyogoku Undokoen mae (it might take 30 – 45 mins).
