Kyoto Zoo, located in the quiet Okazaki Area, is going to extend its opening hours on September 19th and 20th. This is due to an annual event called Okazaki Harebutai that is held at the same time. This event consists of a parade, performances and illumination.

With this special nighttime event, visitors can see some of the animals, for example, elephants, lions, tigers and giraffes, even after 5:00 PM, which is their usual closing time. Note that some facilities such as monkey mountain will close at 4:30.

This is a perfect opportunity to visit this area at night. Without a doubt, travelers with kids will be excited. And before or after visiting the zoo, make sure to enjoy the illumination event. For those who are interested in visiting the zoo at night, be sure to get there by 19:30 at the latest.
