Shinpukan in Kyoto is Closing its Doors

The oldest shopping mall in Kyoto, Shinpukan, is going to put an end to its 15 years of service.
Shinpukan, which opened in 2001, has 16 shops and 6 restaurants, and is conveniently located near Karasuma Oike Station.
The building is original and historic, and the shopping center boasts illumination during X’mas and holiday season.

Shinpukan is going to close at the end of March 2016. After that, it is said that a luxury hotel will open. Because of its design value, most of the current building will remain.

It’s sad to let it go, but according to the official site, shops at this shopping mall will conduct many sales toward the end. For those who love shopping and plan to visit Kyoto before it closes, it might be fun to take a look.
