A company called Shochiku, which runs a theater called Minamiza, announced that it will be temporarily closed due to construction work in order to make it more earthquake resistant.
Since 1929 when it was built, Minamiza has been a venue for countless numbers of entertainment shows from Kabuki performances to popular concerts. Its architecture is historically valuable, and has become the perfect spot to take pictures.
In Kyoto, there used to be 7 Kabuki theaters officially approved by the government in the Edo period. But currently, there is only one; Minamiza. It is not mentioned that when this construction will start, but until then, anyone should be able to take a photograph in front of the building.
