Go to Kamigamo Shrine for Kids Sumo Ritual

If you are in Kyoto now (September 9th), go to Kamigamo Shrine and enjoy watching kids sumo. This is actually a Shinto ritual called Karasu Sumo. ‘Karasu’ means ravens in Japanese, and this is because that the ancestor of the Kamo clan (who are enshrined here) is believed to be a mythical raven called Yatagarasu. This ritual is very energetic and fun to see kids doing their best that might give you some courage. It starts at around 10:45 on September 9th 2016.
