Go to Domoto Insho Museum After Visiting Kinkakuji

If you are in Kyoto now (October 6th – December 25th 2016), and interested in the world of art, it is a good idea to visit Domoto Insho Museum.

Domoto Insho (1891 – 1975), is a well-known artist born in Kyoto and specialized in Japanese style painting. The museum he designed is currently holding a special display, which collects his works. At this display, you can see not only his masterpieces based on Japanese style painting but also product designs and craft works.

In addition, this museum is nicely located between Kinkakuji Temple and Ryoanji Temple (both are designated as a World Heritage Site). So you can enjoy both temple viewing and appreciate artworks on the same day.

Domoto Insho Museum opens from 9:30 – 17:00 (19:30 on Friday). It closes on Mondays (it opens on October 10th because it is a national holiday, and the following Tuesday will be closed) The entrance fee information is as follows:500 yen/adult, 400 yen/college & high school student, 200 yen/middle & elementary school student
