Coffee at a Shrine? Go to Shimogamo Shrine in Kyoto

If you are in Kyoto now (January 29th 2017) and wondering if you could have a cup of decent coffee in a traditional Japanese atmosphere, go to Shimogamo Shrine.

On January 29th, Shimogamo Shrine, which is said to be one of the best shrines for making a love related wish, will host the Japan Coffee Festival. Although you need to pay an entrance fee, 1,000 yen per person (free for anyone under 15 years old), this ticket includes a cup of coffee from your favorite coffee stand.

Also, there are shops serving sweets and foods that go well with a cup of coffee. This festival also features some street performances.

You might need some courage to go out on one of the coldest days, but a cup of good coffee might help keep you warm inside.

It is open from 10:00 – 17:00 on January 29th 2017.
